Joey Rosin - Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

Joey Rosin is a Chicago-based saxophonist and educator. He found his love for music at the age of nine while hearing John Coltrane’s monumental solo on “Giant Steps.” It was in this moment that Joey began his lifelong journey in sound. He earned his B.M. in Studio Music and Jazz Saxophone from the University of Miami Frost School of Music in 2017 where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Joey’s years in school were fruitful; he shared the stage with Patti Austin, Shelly Berg, Gloria Estefan, Estelle, Michael Feinstein, Alan Ferber, Quincy Jones, Dave Koz, Brian Lynch, Barry Manilow, Idina Menzel, Rita Moreno, Renee Olstead, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, John Secada, Charlie Watts, and John Williams. It was also at the University of Miami where Joey discovered his love for doubling; playing the flute and clarinet in addition to the saxophone. Most recently, he toured with Subhi, an Indian singer-songwriter, culminating in a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Joey has also performed at the Chicago Symphony Center, Ravinia Festival, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Chicago Jazz Showcase, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

While Joey loves to preform, he is passionate about teaching. He has been teaching since 2011. His teaching career began through the non-profit Bravo Waukegan in their Bravo Buddies Summer Camp. He began as the woodwind instructor and now is the Lead Teacher, managing all aspects of the month long camp. In addition to teaching at Terra Sounds, Joey is also a Sistema Ravinia teaching artist and has worked as a teaching artist with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic. Joey's mission is to equip his students with tools that empower them to explore and grow through music. To every lesson, Joey brings his wealth of knowledge, his contagious enthusiasm, and his ability to connect individually with each student.
