Vincent Ip - Piano

Born and raised in New York City, pianist and figure skater Vincent Ip has completed a 35-city tour through Europe with Holiday On Ice. In the show “Time”, he showcased his passion and expertise on both the piano and the ice, performing at world-famous venues such as Le Lido in Paris, Lanxess Arena in Köln, Festhalle in Frankfurt, Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, and Halle Tony-Garnier in Lyon.

Vincent claimed the bronze medal at the 2017 Seattle International Piano Competition, the silver medal at the 2019 Young Texas Artists Competition, and 1st prize at the 2020 Thaviu-Isaak Piano Competition. Most recently, Vincent was awarded a Medal of Honor at the 66th Maria Canals International Piano Music Competition in Barcelona and a first prize winner of the 2021 Bienen School of Music Concerto Competition. He will be featured as a soloist with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra in March of 2022.

Vincent has 25 years of piano performing experience and 6 years of piano pedagogy training and teaching experience throughout his studies, having taught students ranging from children to adults of all levels. As a teacher, he strongly believes that it is essential to have a good sense of communication, to be aware of the student’s level and capabilities, to fully understand the piece of music, and ultimately guide the student into discovering their own voice at the piano.

Vincent completed his undergraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music studying under Andre-Michel Schub, his masters' degree at Rice University with Jon Kimura Parker, and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Northwestern University as a full scholarship recipient under the tutelage of James Giles. Outside of his passion for music, Vincent is a figure skating coach and is a former Hong Kong Figure Skating Champion.
